IG Defence, an Indian private-sector defence technology company, is developing JWALA, an indigenous micro-missile designed to intercept hostile unmanned aerial vehicles. In October 2026, the company successfully test-fired two solid rocket motors, marking progress in the interceptor’s development. JWALA is designed to provide a proposed interception range of 2 to 5 kilometres and offer a cost-effective response to emerging drone threats. The programme will undergo further system-level testing and experimental flight trials. The initiative supports indigenous defence manufacturing and aims to strengthen India’s capabilities against increasingly sophisticated unmanned aerial threats.
